MIAMI, FLORIDA — More than two years after a woman reported being sexually assaulted/raped, the criminal case against Rerel Albin Williams has taken another dramatic turn, with court records showing that a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest and his defense attorney has withdrawn from the case.
Williams is charged in Miami-Dade County with sexual battery involving an adult victim, an allegation that remains before the court. The charge has not been proven, and under the U.S. justice system Williams is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
According to court records, the alleged victim reported that she was sexually assaulted, prompting prosecutors to file a felony charge under Section 794.011(5)(b), Florida Statutes, which relates to an alleged sexual battery involving a victim 18 years of age or older.
For the woman at the center of the case, the legal proceedings remain unresolved as she continues to await the outcome of the criminal prosecution.

Court Issues Bench Warrant
The case took a significant turn on July 10, 2026, when the court issued an Alias Capias, commonly referred to as a bench warrant, after Williams allegedly failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing.
An Alias Capias authorizes law enforcement officers to take a defendant into custody and bring that individual before the court after an alleged failure to comply with a court order.
Only days later, on July 14, defense attorney Robert David Malove filed a motion asking the court for permission to withdraw from the case, stating that “irreconcilable differences” existed between himself and his client.
Following a hearing before Judge Cristina Miranda on July 17, the court granted the request, leaving Williams without an attorney on record.
Questions Surround Defendant’s Whereabouts
Eagle Legal News has received information alleging that Williams may have traveled to The Bahamas during the same week he was expected to appear before the court.
At this time, Eagle Legal News has not independently verified those reports, and no publicly available court filing reviewed by this publication states that Williams has left Florida or the United States. Likewise, no law enforcement agency has publicly confirmed that he fled the jurisdiction.
If authorities later confirm his whereabouts or announce that he left the jurisdiction while the warrant was outstanding, Eagle Legal News will update this story.
Case Remains Active
With an active bench warrant reflected in the court record and defense counsel no longer representing the defendant, the case remains pending before the Miami-Dade Circuit Court.
Meanwhile, the alleged victim continues to await the next stage in the judicial process as prosecutors seek to move the case forward.
