More than two years after the death of Omarion Gardiner, his family says they are still searching for answers, expressing frustration over what they describe as a lack of transparency and communication surrounding the investigation into his death.
In a lengthy public statement issued this week, the family detailed the emotional toll they have endured since Omarion died in Grand Turk on April 21, 2024, while raising a number of concerns about the handling of the investigation. The statement emphasizes that the family is not alleging wrongdoing but is calling for greater openness, accountability, and reassurance that every aspect of the case has been thoroughly examined.

According to the family, Omarion’s death has left a permanent void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. They describe him as a devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose loss continues to affect every family gathering, birthday, holiday, and milestone.
While acknowledging that witness statements were reportedly obtained and surveillance footage was said to exist from the night of the incident, the family says they remain uncertain about the current status of the investigation and why, after more than two years, no one has been held accountable.
The statement outlines several areas that continue to concern the family.
Among those concerns are reports that Omarion’s cellular phone was allegedly removed from the scene shortly after the incident by another individual and that information may have been deleted from the device. The family says they have never been informed whether the phone underwent forensic examination before any alleged alterations occurred.
They also question what investigative steps were taken regarding the multiple individuals reportedly present when Omarion lost his life, including whether all witness statements were secured promptly, whether potential evidence was properly preserved, and whether every person’s actions were fully examined.
The family further raises concerns about the initial response to the scene, questioning whether appropriate crime scene preservation procedures were followed and whether evidence was handled in accordance with accepted investigative standards.
Additional questions focus on whether all available evidence—including surveillance footage, witness accounts, electronic evidence, medical records, and previous reports allegedly made to authorities concerning Omarion’s safety—was fully identified, preserved, and considered during the investigation.
The statement also references information that was allegedly brought to the family’s attention suggesting the case would never reach the courts. While the family says it cannot independently verify those claims, it notes that hearing such statements while continuing to receive limited information has deepened its concerns about transparency and public confidence in the justice system.
The family additionally expresses concern about what it describes as the appearance of possible conflicts of interest and whether every decision throughout the investigation was made free from personal relationships, influence, or bias. According to the statement, these concerns have never been addressed to the family’s satisfaction.
Beyond the investigative concerns, the family describes the profound emotional impact the past two years have had on those closest to Omarion.
Rather than being able to grieve in peace, they say they have spent countless hours writing letters to authorities, submitting formal complaints, and pursuing information about the circumstances surrounding his death. Despite receiving acknowledgements from various agencies, they believe meaningful answers have remained elusive.
The family says the uncertainty has left them frustrated, emotionally exhausted, and feeling abandoned by a system they believed would protect and serve all citizens equally.
In the statement, the family poses several questions directed at the broader justice system, asking how public trust can be maintained when grieving families continue to wait years for transparency, communication, and accountability.
They stress that their campaign is not about receiving special treatment but about ensuring that every piece of evidence was properly preserved, every investigative lead was pursued, and every decision was made solely in the interest of justice.
“We are not asking the public to assume wrongdoing,” the statement reads. “We are asking the public to understand why we continue to have questions.”
The family continues by stating that after more than two years of grief, uncertainty, and patience, they remain without the clarity and closure they believe any family deserves following such a devastating loss.
“There is no greater pain than losing someone you love,” the statement says. “What makes that pain even harder is feeling as though you are fighting alone to find answers.”
The statement concludes with a renewed commitment to continue seeking answers in Omarion Gardiner’s name.
“We are not seeking favors. We are seeking transparency. We are seeking accountability. We are seeking confidence that justice applies equally to everyone, regardless of who they are or who they know.”
The family says it will continue advocating for truth, transparency, accountability, and justice until it receives the answers it has been seeking for more than two years.
