4th July, 2026 – Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands
Our newsroom has confirmed that Ms. Denyse Renne, the Press Liaison Officer for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, has been placed on administrative leave/ suspended from duties. The reasons for the decision have not been officially disclosed, and at the time of publication we had not received any official confirmation from the Police Force regarding the circumstances surrounding her leave/ suspension.
Ms. Renne, a communications professional from Trinidad and Tobago, joined the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force in September 2022 to serve as the Force’s Press Liaison Officer. In that role, she has been responsible for coordinating media relations, issuing police press releases, and serving as the primary point of contact between the Police Force and the media.

EAGLE LEGAL NEWS NOT IMPLICATED
Since reports of her administrative leave began circulating, our newsroom has received numerous inquiries from members of the public asking whether the decision was connected to the ongoing investigation involving Investigative Journalist Wilkie Arthur and whether police had discovered communications between Ms. Renne and our newsroom after electronic devices belonging to Eagle Legal News were seized during Mr. Arthur’s arrest. An arrest attorneys have as Mr. Arthur to remain silent about at this time, against his wishes.
We wish to state categorically that Ms. Renne has never supplied our newsroom with confidential police information, internal police documents, or any information whatsoever.
Our records further show that despite submitting our media credentials to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force shortly after the establishment of Eagle Legal News, we were never added to the Force’s official media distribution list. As a result, our newsroom did not receive police press releases, media advisories, invitations to press conferences, or official communications directly from Ms. Renne.
Although our newsroom attended one police press conference several years ago after being informed by members of the media, all requested credentials were subsequently submitted to the Police Force. Despite this, we were never added to the official mailing list and continued obtaining police-related information through publicly available sources, including the Police Force’s Facebook page and other reliable sources.
For that reason, we can state unequivocally that there has never been any correspondence between Ms. Renne and our newsroom involving confidential police information. Any suggestion that her reported administrative leave is connected to communications with Eagle Legal News is entirely false.
This clarification also comes as our newsroom continues to seek the return of electronic devices seized by police during the arrest of Investigative Journalist Wilkie Arthur in June 2026. Despite requests made by legal representatives and directly by Mr. Arthur, those devices have not yet been returned.
At this time, no official explanation has been provided for Ms. Renne’s placement on administrative leave, and we will not speculate on the reasons behind that decision. Should the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force issue a statement, or should Ms. Renne choose to comment publicly, our newsroom will report those developments.
