Saturday 23rd May, 2026 — Turks and Caicos Islands
Three illegal vessels suspected of carrying undocumented migrants from Haiti made undetected landings in the Long Bay area over three consecutive days last weekend, sparking serious concerns about national security and a lack of transparency from local law enforcement.

- The landings occurred on:-
- Friday, May 15th, 2026,
- Saturday, May 16th, 2026, and
- Sunday, May 17th, 2026,
- just ahead of the Haitian Flag Day observances.
The vessels arrived in the Technology Drive area of Long Bay, landing directly in the vicinity of the island’s coastal radar station.
Eagle Legal News visited the landing site and found the area completely deserted. There were no law enforcement officers, border control authorities, or security personnel present to secure the perimeter or oversee the shoreline.
Residents are now questioning the purpose and operational status of the expensive radar equipment installed in the area. Observations from the ground suggest the station is completely unstaffed and failing to detect incoming vessels. Despite the back-to-back landings, government authorities and police have remained entirely silent on the matter.

However, we did observed an increase in immigration operations shortly after Haitian Flag Day. Videos shared of fleeing Haitian Nationals from immigration officers. More activities by The Turks and Caicos Regiment and other police officials.
Eagle Legal News is calling on the relevant authorities for full transparency, demanding that officials stop keeping the public in the dark when illegal sloops breach the territory’s borders. The people of Providenciales and the wider Turks and Caicos Islands deserve to know when these security breaches occur.
While official public statements have not yet been provided, it is understood that border force officers did make at least one arrest in the Long Bay area over the weekend. According to reports, a male resident was taken into police custody after allegedly admitting to authorities that he was in Long Bay to pick up his son, who had just arrived on one of the illegal boats. The man reportedly stated that his wife had informed him of the vessel’s arrival and stated she put his son on board.

According to the Haitian community close to the arrested man, they say he was reportedly granted bail because he holds a valid Turks and Caicos Islands work permit.
The matter remains a growing community concern as residents demand immediate action, greater transparency, and enhanced protection for the nation’s vulnerable coastlines.
