A Haitian national who recently arrived in the Turks and Caicos Islands to work in construction was found dead on Five Cays Beach on Wednesday 13th May following a frantic 24-hour search and missing report by his family.

The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Blernadin Alcy, born June 30, 1982.
Relatives told Eagle Legal News that Alcy arrived in the territory roughly two weeks ago on a work permit to carry out tasks for a local construction company.
He was reported missing by his family after being unaccounted for over a 24-hour period. Despite an initial missing persons report being filed at the police station, we understood that authorities made no move as it was too early.
The following day, a body was discovered on the beach in Five Cays. Police contacted the family members who had filed the report to attend the scene.
The discovery resulted in a highly emotional and devastating scene, with family members screaming and crying as they made the identification. Alcy’s body was found clad only in his underwear and covered in what appeared to be a whitish looking fog possibility from the sea salt waters.
According to preliminary reports from the scene, there do not appear to be any immediate signs of foul play.
However, the exact circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has launched a full investigation into the incident and is appealing to anyone who may have information about Alcy’s final movements to come forward.
The matter remains under active investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
