The mother of a 15-year-old boy who was seriously injured during a police-involved shooting incident on Saturday 13th June, 2026, says she remains hopeful for a miracle as her son continues to battle life-changing injuries at Cheshire Hall Medical Centre.
When Eagle Legal News visited the family’s home in Kew Town yesterday Monday 15th, the young boy’s mother fought back tears as she spoke about the ordeal that has turned her family’s life upside down.

According to the mother, doctors informed the family shortly after the incident that her son had suffered injuries that left him paralyzed. He remains hospitalized here, while arrangements are being made for him to receive specialized medical treatment overseas.
The mother told Eagle Legal News that since Saturday afternoon, she had been informed that her son was expected to be airlifted to the Dominican Republic for further treatment. However, at the time of our visit, the transfer had not yet taken place.
She explained that although her son is able to speak, he remains immobile and unable to move parts of his body as he should.
The emotional toll has been devastating not only for the teenager but also for his younger siblings, who are struggling to understand the sudden change in their brother’s condition.
“He can talk to me, but he can’t move,” the mother said, expressing hope that doctors overseas may be able to offer treatment options not currently available in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
While she remains grateful for the medical care her son has received thus far, she admitted she is fearful about what the future may hold.

According to the mother, doctors have indicated that the prognosis is not encouraging and that there is a possibility her son may never regain normal movement. Despite this, she continues to pray and hope that specialist treatment may improve his condition.
The mother also expressed concern about where her son is expected to be sent for treatment. While she is willing to support whatever decision medical professionals make, she questioned whether the Dominican Republic has the specialized facilities necessary to treat injuries of this nature. Ultimately, she said she will follow the recommendations of the doctors and do whatever is necessary to support her child.
The teenager has reportedly been hospitalized since the incident on June 13 and was diagnosed with paralysis within hours of arriving at the hospital.
The mother stated that she has been allowed to visit and speak with her son and has remained by his side throughout the ordeal.
She also made it clear that she does not view her son as a troubled youth.
Describing him as a respectful and dedicated young man, she said he is a talented basketball player who has represented his school and was doing well academically before the incident occurred.
“He is not a bad child,” she said repeatedly during her conversation with Eagle Legal News.
The mother insists that her son was not involved in criminal activity and stated that she does not believe he was carrying a firearm or engaged in any wrongdoing at the time of the incident.
While she expressed disappointment over what happened, she emphasized that she does not wish to fight back or go after the law enforcement officers that she was told did this to her child. She said they have the power, Im just one small woman living in this country and I am the father and mother of my children. I cannot fight the police, they are the law.
She acknowledged that police officers have a difficult job to do and said she respects law enforcement. However, she remains deeply concerned about the circumstances that led to her son’s injuries and the impact the incident will have on the rest of his life and their entire family. She has two younger boys.
What is very troubling is that, the mother also told us is that she has not received any details, or explanations regarding the investigation and actually no one from the police department have said anything to her yet. She however, remain focused primarily on her son’s recovery.
Those who know the teenager describe him as a quiet and promising young man with a passion for basketball and a bright future ahead of him.
He was even posted by the Turks and Caicos Sports Commission on 5th June as the cover of The 2026 Police Action League, Draft Day that is schedule for 27th of this month (June).
As the family waits for news regarding his overseas transfer, relatives, friends, classmates, and community members continue to offer support and prayers.
For now, a mother’s hope remains stronger than any medical prognosis.
As she sits by her son’s bedside, she continues to pray that somewhere, somehow, a miracle is still possible.
