Wednesday 29th April 2026 – Turks and Caicos Islands
Listening to Bishop Bryant Cox’s show that was aired on Monday night, 27th April 2026. We heard him accusing the government or purportedly sating that, the government are possibly withholding or deliberately dragging their feet and as a result he is not able to commence the public service jitney operation in Providenciales.

We’ve seen advertisements and Mr Cox showed us the public service buses or vans that he have available and said that more is coming in. However, we still have this growing problem with public service transportation on the island of Providenciales.
Daily we see scores and hundreds of people walking to their various places of abode after a long days work. Yesterday alone saw in the thousands and hundreds of people that were left having to walk because of the continuous ongoing police operations where they are ridding the streets of illegal jitneys.
No one is challenging, no one in their right mind or no right thinking person is challenging the fact that we have a serious issue with illegal jitney driving.

However, what most residents, especially those that are affected, are saying is that this should not have been done, no, this should not have commenced until there’s been an alternative in place either by the government or other private entities or private companies.
Bishop Bryant Cox clearly have vans and buses available, and they have drivers available who can commence the street operation forthwith. We can have legal jitneys or public service operation now. We need to do something to facilitate these scores of people that are walking. Look at the videos are shared of yesterday afternoon Tuesday 28th April 2026.
On yesterday alone, we were able to observe at least over 3,000 persons walking the streets, jumping out of cars and beginning to walk home from work and some heading to work. We observed children coming home from school, walking with their parents, some with adults and some without adults accompanying them. The working class of people are frustrated and demand an immediate fix to this problem..

If Bishop Bryant Cox have available public service transportation, why is it taking the government so long? These crackdowns started months ago. Why is it taking the government so long to tweet or amend or approve Bishop Cox to commence?
What we understand is that the government have their own plans as it relates to this sector or this area and they have their own people that they are purportedly trying to put in this area. But, be that as it may, what we say about that is there is enough for those persons whom the government may have and want to give the contracts to and for Bishop Cox and possibly more. Thousands are walking.
There’s so much people walking. This area can be facilitated by more than one operating company. So the government do not have to hold back on Bishop Cox, if that’s what they are doing. Give the Bishop the licence and authority to start and when the other assigned persons are ready, give them licence too.

It was very unwise for the government to actually start the crackdown on jitney operations when you have no alternative in place for your people. You have people now losing their jobs because they’re reaching late. You have people now are not able to go to work back and forth on time because of no public transportation.
We have a serious traffic problem the removal of jitneys are not stopping it. It’s not stopping the traffic problem. It’s not addressing the traffic issue at all.
There are available persons, Bishop Cox and probably others who are willing to start.
