Tuesday 11th August, 2026 GRAND TURK, Turks and Caicos Islands
— A young man from Providenciales has been found shot dead on the patio of a bar in Grand Turk, marking the third murder recorded in the Turks and Caicos Islands so far this year.
The victim has been formally identified as Ashanio Robinson, who is understood to be in his early 20s and originally from the Bight area of Providenciales.
Robinson’s body was discovered in the early hours of Thursday, August 6, with police initially reporting that officers responded to a scene “in the vicinity of the Overback Basketball Court” after receiving reports of an incident.

However, information gathered at the scene indicates that the location of Robinson’s death was at a bar some distance away from the basketball court, where his body was found on the platform immediately in front of the bar entrance.
Images from the scene appear to show Robinson lying on the ground wearing only his underwear, with what appeared to be blood covering his upper body. Multiple apparent gunshot wounds were visible to the upper portion of his body.
Police have not publicly released details concerning the number of shots fired, the circumstances leading up to the shooting, or whether the bar was open or closed at the time of the incident.
The circumstances surrounding why Robinson was at the location in the early hours of the morning also remain unclear.
His clothing and the location where his body was discovered have raised questions about whether he may have been called or lured from another location before being shot, although investigators have not publicly confirmed such a theory.

Police said the lifeless male was discovered at approximately 6:21 a.m. on Thursday. Officers responded to the scene and found an unresponsive man, while the District Medical Officer subsequently attended and pronounced him dead.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has since confirmed Robinson’s identity and extended condolences to his family and loved ones.
Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit, supported by forensic personnel, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
Blood stains remain at scene
When the area was later observed, blood stains could reportedly still be seen on the ground where Robinson had been lying.
Although there appeared to have been an attempt to clean portions of the area, visible traces of blood remained in cracks in the concrete and other sections of the surface.
The scene remains central to the investigation as detectives work to establish what happened before Robinson was killed and whether anyone witnessed the shooting.
Robinson is understood to have travelled frequently between Providenciales and Grand Turk. People familiar with the Bight area said they had seen him in Providenciales only days before his death.
His death has now become the third homicide in the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2026, according to information available to Eagle Legal News.
Significantly, no charges have been announced in connection with any of the three murders recorded in the territory so far this year.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or who has information that could help identify those responsible to come forward.
The RTCIPF has asked anyone with information to contact the Serious Crime Unit or submit information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains active, and police have said further information will be released when it becomes available and when it is operationally appropriate to do so.
